Steve Jobs 1955-2011
One of the most iconic CEOs in history, the man who started a company of two men in a garage and grew it into a multi-billion dollar empire, not to mention re-invent animated films has passed away.
The directions taken by Apple under Jobs’s leadership were revolutionary. From the original Machintosh, the first computer to be controlled by a mouse, right the way through to the mobile...

I haven’t blogged in about three months so I think it’s time I did a new post!
So, what have I done since June? Well, in July I went into Sheffield for the Tramlines music festival. Hundreds of musical acts all over the city over a weekend, all for free! A big highlight for me was seeing Los Campesinsos live on stage outside Sheffield city hall!
The following weekend I headed south...

E3 2011: The slightly depressing round-up
Well, E3 has been and gone for another year and i’m actually a bit disappointed. There are two reasons for this.
The first one: Lack of originallity. There was an endless supply of sequels this year, a lot of them were the third game in a trilogy. Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3 and more.
The second one: Too much motion control. It seemed almost every game in the Microsoft press...
E3 2011: Nintendo
Okay, just watched the Nintendo presentation, so hyped up right now!
It started with the 3DS. New games include:
Mario Kart
Starfox
Super Mario
Kid Icarus (again!)
And… Luigi’s Mansion! Nice to see that one again!
But enough about that, let’s move on to Ninty’s new hardware we’ve all been speculating about. Bringing in a new way to control games (how often has...
E3 2011: Sony
Sony, what can I say? Quite a bit, it may seem. As I expected, it started with an apology. Good move, guys. Now, on to the games.
Uncharted 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, Bioshock Infinate, impressive 3D bundle, proper information on new handheld device. On the other hand, there was what I thought was a little too much 3D and Playstation Move still looks a bit daft.
That’s about it, no, wait....
E3 2011: Ubisoft
This one I didn’t see a lot of, due to technical difficulties.
Not much to be said really apart from:
Driver:San Francisco
Far Cry 3
Assassin’s Creed: Revalations
Rayman
And some other stuff I can’t remember/didn’t see.
I’ll be back when Sony have done their bit. Let’s see if they start with the word “Sorry”. See ya!

E3 2011: EA
Back again, this time for Electronic Arts.
This press briefing was considerably better than the Microsoft one. Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run really caught my eye. Insomniac Games announced Overstrike, an action game which, at the same time, looks hilarious! I was also impressed by the Bioware developed Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic.
At the moment I write this, The...

E3 2011: Microsoft
Just saw the Microsoft press briefing and really, I don’t have a lot to say.
The general idea seems to be: Kinect in everything. I don’t think it’s a good idea. The amount of quality titles adding voice control is impressive, although it’s been done a good while ago. Which bring up a question, can we do the voice control stuff with existing headsets? That’s something...

Capacitor leakage
You may be wondering why I have given this title to a blog post. Well, this is what killed my PC motherboard. This kind of thing has been linked to industrial espionage in Taiwan. Find out more at this wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague
Now begins the process of obtaining new parts. Anyone got any good deals for a Socket AM2 motherboard?

End of 2010 blog
What a year it has been. When it started, I said that things would only get better and for me, personally, they’ve kinda stayed the same.
Sure, I’ve found new friends, which is a plus, although I havent done much of interest. Oh wait, there was the time when a singer-songwriter friend of mine asked me to play drums on a song she was working on. That’s a big plus! I’ve...

How long's it been?
I’ll tell you. Five months. Sorry I haven’t blogged sooner, this was due to computer problems and being slightly busy.
Speaking of being slightly busy, let’s go back to July for a quick report on the Tramlines music festival in Sheffield. Overall I was impressed with the venues, most of them being the pubs and clubs in the Devonshire Quarter, along with two outdoor stages. One...

Difficulties in Video Blogging
I’ve been stuck for things to do recently and I remembered I have a video camera so I thought to myself, “I’ll start a video blog”. Little did I know how complex it could get.
The first problem I had was getting enough light. Turns out artificial light was not being helpful. Filming earlier in the day to use natural light solved that problem. The other problem was the...
Here comes a blog post!
Hey everyone, I’ve got some stuff to talk about, so here it is.
The General Election finally got round to finishing recently when it ended in a coalition government. The most surprising part is how entertaining this has all been!
Youtube celebrates five years of providing a place to post video online. In that time the maximum picture resolution has increased substantially from 360p all...

Fighting With Light
I recieved a dinky little 720p video camera for Christmas and I have been having trouble being able to see things on the display because everything indoors looks very dark. I ended up having to use two lights or film next to the window during daylight hours.
However, when I viewed the footage on my computer I found that like most other video files on my PC, it had a strange White cast. This made...
